Create a Bar Graph
A bar graph shows categories with bars whose heights or lengths match the data values. Your goal is to place each category on the correct axis position and make each bar reach the right value.
Method
- Read the categories and values carefully. Identify what each label represents and how many items belong to it.
- Choose the axes correctly. Categories usually go on the horizontal axis, and the scale goes on the vertical axis.
- Use an even scale. Count by equal steps so the graph is easy to read and compare.
- Draw equal-width bars. Leave the same space between bars if spacing is part of the graph style.
- Match each bar to its value. Make sure every bar ends at the correct height.
- Label the graph clearly. Include category names and scale numbers.
Check your work
- Compare each bar height with the given value.
- Make sure the scale increases by equal amounts.
- Confirm that no bar is too short, too tall, or placed under the wrong category.
If the exercise asks for a final answer, simplify it by writing the graph information exactly as required, with no extra steps.
