Decimal to fraction: how to convert

1. Read the decimal place value. Count how many digits are after the decimal point.

   • 1 digit means tenths
   • 2 digits means hundredths
   • 3 digits means thousandths

2. Write the number over the matching power of 10.

   • 0.7 = 7/10
   • 0.34 = 34/100
   • 0.125 = 125/1000

3. Simplify the fraction. Divide the numerator and denominator by their greatest common factor.

   • 34/100 = 17/50
   • 125/1000 = 1/8
